PART 1 DJ (female) : New season has come ! Do you have any memory about this term ? HYDE : umm, I don't have any particularly.. I was popular when the new term starts, (in Japan, new term starts in Apr.) but the nearly end of the term, I became unpopular somehow, so I couldn't get many chocolates on the Valentaine's day. DJ : Tell me about your solo activity. How come you wanted to be a solo artist ? HYDE : I've been playing in the band but it's like a child started to say he wants his own room, I wanted to make something on my own. In the band, you make things with their ideas and that's beatiful, but I wanted to make something with my own ideas.. I'd been thinking about it for .. about 5 years. I wanted to try it when I had a time.. but I was too busy ! DJ : Your solo album is quite different from LArc's.. is that natural ? HYDE : It's natural for me. In my head, bands should be aggresive .. I like listening hard rock but I like the other sort of music as well ..so.. I wanted to make that sort of music this time.. DJ : Your CD singles are coffin shaped.. and when you take the CD off from the case, there is honey and ants... In evergreen, there is one ant.. in Angel's tale, there are 2 ants.. in SHALLOW SLEEP, there are many.. HYDE : fufufu... ne~ ? Stupid, isn't it ? DJ : Er ? Stupid ? (laugh) HYDE : I often disappointed with the other artist's CD design.. I was thinking about good design for CD cover for a long.. DJ : .. but why there are honey and ants ? HYDE : Etto... while the CD is inside.. I didn't want to show the design behind it.. I wanted something red in the middle because the first single 'evergreen' CD cover was a rose.. when you open the case and you see the redish color in the middle of CD, you might think that's a rose... but you take off the CD then find that' not a rose, that's honey ! (laugh) Those ants are not my idea. DJ : Oh, it wasn't your idea ? (laugh) HYDE : The designer,who works with me, added ants. When I went to see the CD cover design in the office, there was an ant . . . DJ : hahaha ! HYDE : Ant was there when I was back from England. That's cute, ha ?? I decided to use it for fun... On 2nd single CD cover, there are two ants, and on 3rd, there are many. Those are babies. Baby ants are white. DJ : What's the story about pvs ? HYDE : If you put 3 pv's together, you can see the story.. to be honest, there are more .. I only show half of it... DJ : Do you intend to show them all ? HYDE : Someday.. i'm planning to show them all... ^^ DJ : In your album, I can hear the violin solo.. and orchestra .. HYDE : I made a demo tape in Japan then went to england.. I don't listen classical music but I was thinking about it would be something like soundtracks. The main sounds are acoustic guitar and orchestras, not voice. DJ : You have made this album in London. HYDE : yeah... I felt really nervous... ('doki doki shita !' in wispering voice) DJ : Really ?! Even you ..?? HYDE : Yeah ! I often feel nervous ! I got nervous when musicians were tallking (in English).. wondered 'What are they talking ?' ,.. or... when they started to play my song in different style, I thought 'Oi, what are you doing, that's my song ! Don't arrange it like that !' etc.. I couldn't say that .. I did say that acutually, but it was difficult to explain my image to them. There was a translator and he explained it for me but they (the musicians) only said 'No'... I thought 'What do mean ?! You don't understand what I wanna do !?' .... haha. but recording was quite enjoyable. Poeple I met there were all nice.
